Will HCG Really Help You Lose Weight?
There are many diet plans on the market that make great claims of helping you lose weight. I’m sure most of you have heard of the HCG diet. There are pros and cons to any diet program, but will the HCG diet help you, and is it healthy? I still believe if losing weight is your plan, then the only way for long-term permanent weight loss is by altering your eating habits and exercise program. But, I am always open to evaluate a product when thinking about losing weight. So, I did some research, then went out and bought some of the HCG diet product. I will give you my results later in this article and tell you if it helped me lose weight.
What is HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin)?
It’s a hormone produced in the human body. The hormone allows the body to metabolize store fat and use it as energy for both mothers and the fetus during pregnancy. While losing weight, a small amount is used to capitalize on its effects. The HCG diet asserts you will lose 1-3 pounds per day. But, they also want you to significantly reduce your daily intake of calories. On the HCG diet, you only eat 500 calories per day. This will bring on several negative side effects, including headaches, mood swings, depression, confusion, dizziness, and others. Losing weight should be fun, not a headache!
Only 500 Calories Per Day?
They say HCG helps your body unlock stored fat, in turn moving in the direction you want to go and begin losing weight. It’s normal for your body to store excess fat, which typically prevents you from losing weight. The HCG diet claims to allow the body to aim at your locked fat reserves, giving you energy (fuel), and make losing weight easier and quicker. But only eating 500 calories per day for an extended period of time is brutal.
I tried it, and did not have any success. In fact, after a few days, I gave up and gained more weight back than what I had lost originally. So, again I say that if losing weight is your goal, then look for a long term, more permanent way of losing weight.
